The Rannoch Circle 2010

The Lomond United squad recently spent a sunny Sunday in Feb cycling around a highland loch to raise funds for the club and have a bit of fun whilst getting fit.

It started on the Saturday before when the team headed north on the A9 up to Pitlochry with a pit stop in Perth. The bikes were picked up and the squad headed west to Kinloch Rannoch.

Quick un pack then down the pub for an impromptu pool, darts and drinking competition.

For the record Danny 'the power' Caldwell won the darts with Scott 'rocket' Pattie taking the pool trophy.

By the time Alex Simpson arrived from Glasgow it was hard to judge the who had won the drinking trophy!

Morning didn't so much dawn on Sunday as wafted into the consciousness with the great smells from the cooking of a full breakfast by Scott, Alex and head chef Alistair Mcbain

In bright Sunshine on one of the finest Sundays of the year so far the team set off along the north side of Loch Rannoch, the amazing views and the calm water was a excellent hangover cure!

The first scheduled was at 5 miles with Alistair, call me Lance, Mcbain setting the pace!

On one of the stops we spied some canoeists stopped at the waters edge.

With banjo's in everyone's mind, it was a pleasant surprise that after a small chat we found the couple were from Kirkcaldy and just wondering what we were doing ? I think riding a bike should of been a clue!

The 30 mile cycle finished with Coach Malcolm Muirhead on his dream machine first past the post with Lance Mcbain 10 mins later, followed by the peloton and sweeper Ross Rankine coming home sometime later!

An excellent overnighter with fantastic weather and all for a good cause.

The club would like to thank the following for their efforts - Alistair Mcbain, Mmalcolm Muirhead, Scott Pattie, Kris Fairbairn, Liam Farrell, Francis Stuart, Gordon Forbes, Allan Hain, Ian Sim, Chris Melville, Danny Caldwell, Ross Rankine, with Alex Simpson in support vehicle, well a hire van.
