Fund raising charity match in aid of Roxburghe House, Dundee

Back in Sept 1998 Lomond United got together with a team of ex Dundee and Dundee United players to raise funds for Roxburghe House in Dundee.

The mix of Dundee and Dundee United players were playing under the title of Dundee All Stars whilst Lomond United had secured the services of Terry Butcher the ex England Captain and now of course, Inverness manager and Raith Rovers boss Jimmy Nicholl. John Rowbotham refereed the match.

The game got underway in front of a good sized crowd keen to see Lomond or perhaps it was the ex pros strut their stuff!

It was an even game early on with Stephen Robb almost putting Lomond in front but it was not to be. A certain Frank Kopel put the All Stars in front then scored another before half time.

The second half was a little bit more even with Lomond enjoying more possession but the All Stars goalkeeper, Hamish McAlpine, stopped anything crossing the line and so the matched ended 2-0 to the All Stars.

A great day for everyone at Lomond United. Terry Butcher's aromatic team talk as he walked around the orange peel covered floor particularly stands out in the minds of all those there. Lomond United's Grieg Galloway was named man of the match.

Bottom line, £500.00 was handed over to Roxburghe House
